Inclusive Capital Collective - Funder Briefing No. 2

The Inclusive Capital Collective (ICC) is a group of over 90 community fund managers and entrepreneur support organizations who have been designing and developing shared technical and financial infrastructure for aggregating and deploying  financial capital and other resources to BIPOC communities.

A joint project of Common Future and Zebras Unite, and funded by the Surdna Foundation, the ICC is motivated by the need for better “plumbing” to drive capital to BIPOC entrepreneurs. Its purpose is to overcome systemic racism through the equitable access to capital.

The ICC achieves this purpose by aiding and amplifying the ingenuity of capital innovators and service providers who have been developing innovative solutions for their communities such as real estate based strategies in Chicago, Colorado and Atlanta, or character based loan products in Indian Country, and by connecting them in a jointly owned and governed network.

This work was important before the pandemic, and it has only become more urgent now. The ICC has just concluded a 6 month strategic roadmapping process, and we invite you to join us for a conversation about its next phase of implementation.

Faith-Based Investors and Impact Investing

Faith-based investors have driven the early sustainable and responsible investing movement by applying ethical and moral standards for investment decisions. The roots can be traced as far back as 3,500 years ago in guidelines on how to deal with finance within religious communities. More recently, they have been at the forefront of divestment movements against the apartheid and fossil fuel. While there are no formal statistics of the entire market size of faith-based investing, religious organizations are known to have substantial investment volumes. In the United States, the Christian investment market alone is estimated to be over 21 trillion US dollars.

Join this webinar to follow the journey of a secular researcher diving into the faith-based investing community to answer questions such as: Who are faith-based investors? Are they any different and what can we learn from them? What is the role of a faith-based investor in an increasingly secularized society? CIIC Steering Committee member Kayoko Lyons will be joining for a panel discussion.
